Picking your own strawberries is one of the best ways to spend a morning or afternoon outside in the fresh air and there are plenty of places that will let you pick your own in Denmark. There’s an incredible website that will show you where and when you can pick not just strawberries but a variety of fruits in the country.
It’s called plukselvfrugt.dk and you can use it to find farms offering this amazing activity. All you need to do is select the fruit or vegetable you’d like to pick and a map will load with locations.
Right now is the perfect time to pick strawberries and depending on weather conditions they should be ready to pick until late July! The closest location on the map is Amager Plante Opbevaring, which is a 27-minute drive from Copenhagen. Alternatively, you can take a 9-minute train to Tårnby, change and take another 10-minute train to Store Magleby. It’s really easy to get to!
Just North of Copenhagen there’s another place to pick your own fruit called Rokkedyssegård. It’s a 28-minute drive from the city and it is reachable using public transport but you would have to take the train to Værløse and then a bus to Lejrvej ved Kildebakken.
There are plenty of options, so next time you feel like getting out into the open air, soaking up some Danish sun and plucking some fresh fruit check out the website. It’s a great way to entertain kids and teach them about where their food comes from, too. Adults and kids alike will enjoy the feeling of picking their own fruit.
