Where to relax beside a crackling bonfire with a beer.
Every year Danes celebrate the feast of Saint John the Baptist and the summer solstice in conjunction, with plenty of roaring bonfires and cold drinks to welcome in the summer months. Last year’s celebrations looked very different, and this year there won’t be as many celebrations as usual, but there are a few places at which you can celebrate in the usual manner.
1. Reffen
Reffen are pulling out all the stops tomorrow evening, with a fantastic bonfire, blues music from Dale Smith & Friends, and, of course, delicious street food. There’s no entrance fee and it’s sure to be a fantastic evening.
2. Tivoli
From Christmas to Sankt Hans Aften, people flock to Tivoli because they put on the best celebrations, and this year you can join others at Tivoli for a bonfire on the lake. There will be plenty of music and the usual amazing atmosphere.
3. Dragør Fort
The commander at Dragør Fort will be lighting a big bonfire just before 10 pm, and there will be loads of street food to stuff your face with, including delicious burgers. Plus, with a gin bar and craft beer on offer, it sounds like a fantastic evening. It’s free to attend and you can read more about it on the Facebook event.
4. Ørestad Nord
There will be a grand total of 3 bonfires at the Ørestad Nord celebrations, accompanied by the Ørestad choir, and free honey flavoured ice-cream for the kids. Restaurants in the area will also be offering special deals on meals, and you can read more about the event on the Facebook event page.
