As a serious foodie, I’m always looking for my next obsession, and cheesecake is one of those foods that makes my mouth water instantly when I think about it. If you too are partial to a slice of that delicious, creamy treat then you need to try Bertel’s Salon in Frederiksberg and also Kompagnistræde where there are so many flavours to choose from it will make your head spin.
If you know somebody who isn’t too keen on cheesecake and you’d like to convert them then this is the perfect place because even those who swear they hate sweet food will be taken by the bakes at Bertel’s Salon. It’s always pretty busy but well worth the wait if you can’t secure a table immediately. Here’s why.
The cheesecakes are actually baked, which means that the crust is soft and tasty. It’s a far better texture than those cheesecakes you might eat elsewhere where the base is made from biscuit crumbs and butter and then refrigerated. It also makes for a creamy filling with a bit of bite that won’t lose its texture by the time it reaches your table.
You can choose from countless flavours, including a delicious Oreo cheesecake, an Irish coffee cheesecake, a Toffifee cheesecake and fruitier flavours like key lime. There are also vegan options to choose from, and even gluten-free brownie cheesecakes that are just as indulgent as the others. Each slice costs 65 DKK.
Of course, there are other baked goods on offer such as croissants and plenty of tasty drinks to wash it all down with, too. You can even have your cheesecake to take away and enjoy it in the sun, or curled up under the duvet in your pajamas. If you’d like to order a full cheesecake then you can do so on the website and the cafes are open from 11 am every day.
